Automotive dashboardreading without hesitation

An interface study for driving: speed, energy and route in a single visual sequence, with absolute priority for safety over decoration.

The challengeالتحدّي

The problem we came to solve

A driver does not read the screen; they glance at it. Anything that takes more than a fraction of a second to understand is a hazard — and the visual decoration that looks superb in a dark room disappears under midday sun.

  • What must be seen in a fraction of a second, then what is read at a stop, then what is hidden
  • One colour that carries meaning — so when it changes the driver knows something really changed
  • Contrast measured under direct brightness, not on a desk monitor
  • No motion that pulls attention off the road

Approachالمقاربة

What we decided — and why

01

A three-level visual hierarchy

Speed and warnings in the first level, at a size readable without focusing. Energy and route in the second. Everything else hidden until asked for.

A three-level visual hierarchy
02

One colour that carries meaning

Green for a healthy state only. No decorative green and no «brand» green — so when something turns amber or red the driver does not need to read why.

03

Tested in daylight

Contrast was measured under direct brightness, not on a desk monitor in a dark room. Anything that failed under the sun was redesigned.

Solutionالحل

What was actually delivered

A complete interface study in Figma with a three-level visual hierarchy, a semantic rather than decorative colour palette, and contrast measured under real lighting conditions.

01 A three-level hierarchy Speed · energy · route 02 Semantic colour Not decorative 03 Measured contrast Real daylight 04 Safety before ornament An absolute priority
1. A three-level hierarchy: Speed · energy · route 2. Semantic colour: Not decorative 3. Measured contrast: Real daylight 4. Safety before ornament: An absolute priority
